Day One: A week recording in the Scottish hills.
Our first day of recording…….
10am. The first track tackled linked us with the 1978 farewell concert….. then it was an eight bar round, ‘Peace n the Fire’, written and sung as the encore for that sole occasion.
This Simon Jaquet song, now with verses and fuller arrangement, provided a gentle but strong start to proceedings.
9pm. Steve Butler, our producer, helped us find a new lighter groove for ‘Ouagadougou’. After numerous hours of effort trying to tame the beast with a click track, bass and drum ………… the solution was to set it free with a whole new feel (no muskets or fifes but a something special from the grandfather’s chest emerging).
